In Britain, there is a program that provides guidance for domestic violence perpetrators.📞
Called the “Respect Phoneline,” it offers counseling and options for those who recognize their own abusive behavior and seek to stop it. 🛑🗣️
The confidential program receives over 6,000 calls, texts, and live-chats annually. 📲💬
Their motto is “Choose to Stop” ✋— and the fact that a person has reached out at all indicates they want help. This is the first step to stopping the abuse. 🏁💡
Without invoking shame, their website, RespectPhoneline.org.uk, offers questions that guide individuals to find the help they need. 🌐🧭
Batterer intervention is about learning new ways to deal with difficult emotions and changing well-worn patterns of aggressive behavior. 🔄💭
We are all born innocent and gentle, but life and even our families can teach us to be violent. 👶➡️😔
