Solar energy farms often compete with traditional farms for the same amount of land πŸŒΎβ˜€οΈ.

Agrivoltaic farming is the practice of growing crops underneath solar panels πŸŒ±πŸ”†.

On these new, hybrid farms, solar panels are installed 2-3 meters off the ground, shielding crops from hail, winds, and harsh weather 🌬️🌦️.

This forest-like shading 🌳 also helps the plants retain moisture πŸ’§ and stimulates them to grow bigger, producing higher yields πŸ…πŸ₯¬.

The plants, in turn, "sweat" πŸ’¦, which cools the panels and boosts their performance ⚑.

The energy generated gives food farmers an additional revenue stream πŸ’° to carry them through difficult crop years, as well as providing power for them and the local electric grid πŸ”ŒπŸ‘.

Great success is being reported from around the world 🌍✨.

A small farm in Colorado πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ grows a variety of vegetables while generating enough electricity to power 300 homes πŸ‘πŸ”‹.

In Kenya πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ, the panels create power ⚑ while also reducing import costs by increasing the crop varieties that can be grown in the hot, arid region 🌡πŸ₯•.

And in Japan πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅, 2,000 solar panels generate electricity to power more than 32,000 homes, while shading 120 different kinds of crops πŸŒΎπŸ†.

By harvesting the sun twice β˜€οΈπŸŒΏ, Agrivoltaics may someday feed the world and meet our energy needs for generations to come πŸŒπŸ’‘.
